J-Fest 2012

Hi again~ Shiani here with a report for her experience at Anime Evolution’s J-Fest! Of course, the execs and I had a fantastic time there!

We went to J-Fest early to set up our table in the community room! There were a lot of other interesting groups set up there as well!

UBC Anime Club's table ♥!

We brought Ouran High School Host Club and Hetalia Axis Powers to play on the computer while attendees checked out our table >w<! We also had figures for decoration. Of course, we can’t forget about Kyubey making contracts at our table :D! Kyubey did an excellent job of attracting people to sign up for our mailing list!

There were panels for every kind of anime fan, from a History of Anime panel to a mature Lolita panel. I wish we had time to check them all out… Next time! >w<

In the community room, there were maid games ran by the Cos & Effect maid cafe staff! We played UNO, Hungry Hungry Hippos, Bop It and that fishing game where you try to catch the plastic fishy with a plastic rod! That was tons of fun (≧∇≦)/!

There were awesome Gundam models being painted in the same room as us; it looks like it takes so much accuracy and concentration! I want to try to delicately paint a model too! ^3^

There was also a cosplay contest run by Cos & Effect; I got to take a lot of awesome pictures! My favourite cosplays were the ones that had the awesome props… so cool ^o^! The UBC Anime Club execs were given the task to make a vanity wall for the cosplay contest and for taking photos! It was a bit of a challenge for them to make the wall, but I think they did a good job! ♥

I got to check out the vendor’s and artist’s room too! There were a lot of great stuff on sale like doujinshi, figures, pins and other miscellaneous anime items!  Some of the artists there were also at Minicomi!

Tamaki posing in the Dealer's Room!

Not only did we manage to get a Tamaki to pose with one of our Ouran High School Host Club DVD boxes, we also managed to get a Hetalia group to pose with our Hetalia DVD boxes >u<! They looked so awesome ♥ ♥ ♥!

At the end of the day, there was a closing ceremony where the winners of the contests were announced. Gundam prizes were literally tossed around and I managed to grab one! It’s going to be a prize for a contest in the future for UBC Anime Club! Maybe one of you will win it in the near future! ♥

Anime Evolution made a big announcement regarding Akimatsuri which will be a 2 day convention on November 3-4 2011; we’re excited about it ourselves!

Overall, J-Fest was a fun event where we got to meet lots of new people and check out a lot of cool panels!  Good work, everyone who made J-Fest possible 😀 Check out the rest of the pictures I took here: [shashin type=”album” id=”19″ size=”small” crop=”y” order=”date” columns=”3″]

Until next time!
