Showing #2: Anime Previews & Manga Round Robin

This week we’ll be selecting some new anime from the fall season to preview. Later on we’ll put up a poll and decide which ones we want to watch for the rest of the semester, so keep in mind which ones your favourites are!

After dinner break, we’ll have a manga round robin game (along with some other possible activities) that involves swapping drawings and creating ridiculous stories. 😉 This event is a lot of fun, so don’t miss it!
There will also be an artist meetup during this time, so if you want to chat with some other artists in the club, this will be happening in a nearby room.

Friday, October 3rd

5:00 – 6:15: Season Previews (animes to be decided)
6:15 – 7:00 Dinner Break
7:00 – 10:00: Manga Round Robin & other activities

Updates

Hello everyone! Our sponsors page has been updated with our sponsors for the 2014-2015 year. If you’ve got a membership and you love to buy anime merchandise or cosplay items then it would be a good idea to see if your favourite stores have a discount for you.

Other than that, we hope to see you at our Icebreaker today at 5pm! Remember that this event is open to everyone (whether you have a membership or not) so bring your friends and check it out.

Our regular showings will begin next week, at BUCH 104, 5pm – 10pm. Stay tuned for a chance to enter a raffle sometime next week too!

Term One Art Contest: Food

The theme for our first term art contest is food!
This means anything food-related, whether it’s a person dressed with food-inspired clothing, someone eating food, etc.

The rules:

  1. You must be a member for the 2014-2015 year.
  2. You may submit multiple entries.
  3. Entries can be any medium: Black-and-white, sketched, digital, etc.
  4. All submissions must be completely original. This means no content from any other artist, anime, manga, or any other copyrighted material.
  5. Entries must be tasteful meaning no nudity, sexuality, gore, etc.
  6. You may use our mascots in your art entry if you wish.

The winner will be decided based upon two criteria: creative design and skill.

The deadline to submit is the showing on Nov 21 at 5pm (right before the showing). Submissions can be emailed directly to us at info@ubcani.com or given to us at any of our events until the deadline.

The UBC Anime Club executive team reserves all rights to disqualify submissions at their discretion if any of the above requirements are not met.

Good luck!
